The UAE welcomes the political settlement in Sudan

The UAE welcomed the political framework agreement reached by the Sudanese parties to complete the transition period in a way that strengthens Sudan’s stability and prosperity.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation reiterated that the deal includes steps to ensure the establishment of a civilian-led government and expressed its desire for success and payment for the Sudanese components on their next trip to complete the transition period from Sudan .

The ministry recognized the efforts of the members of the tripartite mechanism group, the Quartet, the European Union and the Troika countries to mobilize support for this framework agreement and the success in building and strengthening consensus among stakeholders to achieve the aspirations of the fraternal people of Sudan for stability, development and prosperity.

The ministry noted the UAE’s willingness to deepen and broaden the horizons of cooperation with Sudan and push it forward in all areas to strengthen the ties of strong ties that bind our two fraternal countries and peoples.

The ministry reaffirmed the UAE’s zeal for a peaceful and prosperous political transition in fraternal Sudan in a way that enhances its stability and prosperity and brings prosperity, prosperity and development to its people.

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres also welcomed the signing of the first accord between military and civilian leaders in Sudan and expressed his hope that it would pave the way for the country’s transition to civilian authority.

His spokesman, Stephane Dujarric, said in a statement that Guterres “welcomes the signing of a framework agreement between Sudan’s civilian political forces and army.”

“He hopes this will pave the way for a return to a civilian-led transition in the country,” he added.

He added that the Secretary-General “calls on all Sudanese parties to work without delay on the next phase of the transition process to respond to the remaining issues, with the aim of reaching a lasting and comprehensive political agreement,” reiterating the call of the United Nations support for “the aspirations of the Sudanese people for democracy, peace and sustainable development”.

The Sudanese army and civilian leaders on Monday signed an agreement paving the way for the formation of a civilian government and the end of a political crisis accompanied by an economic crisis ravaging the country.
