The North Korean leader publicly shows his daughter at a missile launch site
North Korean President Kim Jong Un on Friday oversaw the launch of a “new model” ICBM, which appeared alongside his daughter, whom he was introducing to the world for the first time.
The North Korean government’s children’s charity shared remarkable pictures of Kim holding his daughter’s hand during the rocket launch.
The agency said the new missile is a Hwasong-17 and was launched from an airbase near Pyongyang and will travel 999.2 km.
The main newspaper Rodong Sinmun also published a series of photos in which Kim watched the rocket fly with his daughter from afar.
Other photos showed the daughter, dressed in a white coat and red shoes, walking with her father next to a giant rocket on a launch cart.
This is the first time North Korean state media have mentioned the daughter or published her photos.
The Korean Central News Agency did not release any other details about her, such as her name and age.
Much of Kim’s personal life is still unknown. However, South Korean media reported that Kim married Ri, a former singer, in 2009 and that the couple had three children, born in 2010, 2013 and 2017.
