Today, Friday, at the opening of the Arab-Chinese summit, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman expressed his appreciation for the Friends of Global Development initiative from China.

According to the Sky News Arabia website, the Saudi Crown Prince said: “The Arab-Chinese summit establishes a new phase between our countries.”

Prince Mohammed bin Salman continued, “We appreciate China’s position in support of the two-state solution in line with the Arab initiative.”

For his part, Chinese President Xi Jinping regarded the summit as a “defining event in the history of Sino-Arab relations”.

He added, “We unite and move forward together to achieve our countries’ aspirations,” pointing to “the establishment of 17 cooperation mechanisms under the China-Arab Cooperation Forum.”

“The Chinese and Arab sides should strengthen solidarity and cooperation and build a community for a closer future,” he added.

He emphasized that “what brings us together is the concern for peace and harmony, the pursuit of truth and the call for dialogue between civilizations”.

Highlights of Chinese President Xi Jinping’s speech:

  • We support the two-state solution and the establishment of a Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as the capital.

It is noteworthy that the Chinese President arrived in Saudi Arabia on Wednesday for a three-day official visit during which he will hold bilateral meetings and attend three summits, which will be a Saudi-Chinese summit chaired by King Salman is acting bin Abdulaziz and the Chinese President, and with the participation of Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman, a Gulf-China summit with the participation of the heads of state and government of the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council and an Arab-China summit with the participation of the heads of and leaders of Gulf Cooperation Council and Arab countries.
