Somali security forces reported that at least 11 people were killed in a suicide attack on a military base in Mogadishu.
A Somali military official said 11 Somali army recruits were killed and 15 others wounded in Saturday night’s attack.
The killer managed to get to the military base disguised as a soldier.
The Islamist terrorist group Al-Shabab claimed responsibility for the attack.
According to police, at least four other explosions occurred in Mogadishu in the evening, including at locations near the presidential palace.
However, the police have not yet released any further information on the deaths or injuries.
The government in Mogadishu has been conducting a military offensive against Al-Shabab for several months.
Islamist terrorists control large parts of central Somalia and the south of the country.
With the support of armed clans, the Somali army eventually conquered large swaths of land.
Recently, terrorist militias have increasingly focused their activities on terrorist attacks on members of the government and clan elders.
Just last weekend, Mogadishu witnessed the country’s worst terrorist attack in almost five years, when two suicide bombers blew themselves up in front of the Ministry of Education building in the center of the Somali capital.
At least 120 people were killed in the attack.
