Rescue of a patient whose heart stopped twice in 40 minutes
A team of doctors specializing in cardiology and cardiac catheterization at the King Abdullah Medical Complex in Jeddah has managed to save the life of a patient whose heart stopped twice in 40 minutes, in a precise operation, the Saudi Press Agency reported today, Tuesday.
The Jeddah Health Authority explained that the complex received the case as a life-saving case after coordination with one of the public hospitals in the area, after the results of the medical examinations showed that an infarction occurred in the front wall of the heart muscle, causing the patient’s heart to die stopped twice.
She pointed out that the medical teams overseeing the case decided to put the patient on artificial respiration and install medical equipment that supports the heart in order to preserve the patient’s life and stabilize his vital signs, and then put him in to move to the cardiac catheterization lab to perform urgent therapeutic interventional catheterization surgery to place his stent with a supportive balloon in the anterior descending artery.
She explained that after the operation, the patient was transferred to the cardiac ward under medical observation until he gradually recovered.
