A computer systems malfunction caused flight delays across the United States, and US President Joe Biden said authorities still don’t know the cause of the malfunction.

The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration has asked airlines to delay all domestic flights until 9 a.m. EST (1400 GMT) until they can fix the disruption.

For his part, the US President clarified that the planes are able to land safely, but cannot take off because of this malfunction. Biden added that the aviation authority does not yet know the cause of the malfunction.

At the same time, White House spokeswoman Karen Jean-Pierre said in a tweet on Twitter that “there is currently no evidence of a cyberattack, but the President has requested the Department of Transportation to do so.”
Open a thorough investigation of the reasons. The FAA will provide regular updates.”

The delays included more than 4,000 flights to and from the United States (Reuters)

Navigational data from air traffic control units showed the total number of delayed flights to and from the United States exceeded 4,000, while canceled flights reached 690.

For its part, the Federal Aviation Administration said all aircraft currently in US airspace are safe to land.

About two hours after the traffic disruption, the administration announced the resumption of departures from Newark, N.J., and Atlanta, Georgia, airports.
