King Charles is banning a dish from the royal tables… and here’s why

ban King Charles III A dish of fattened foie gras was served on the tables of the royal family, according to a letter from the royal palace to the animal welfare association PITA.

Charles III is known for his long struggle to protect nature, organic farming and fight climate change, and he has been one of the harshest critics of eating fattened foie gras.

“Thank you for your letter on the ethical issues surrounding foie gras,” the royal director wrote in a letter to PETA.

Sir Tony Johnston-Burt added in the letter, of which Agence France-Presse received a copy dated November 10 on Friday: “I can confirm that the fattened foie gras is not one of the Royal Family’s purchases and will not be served on tables in the royal houses and it is not expected that this policy should change.”

Elizabeth II, who died on September 8th, was a fan of foie gras. This dish was served to her in June 2014 at an official dinner in Paris that brought her together with former President Francois Hollande.

As a thank you to the king, PETA sent him a box containing one such “fake” dish, which was served at vegetarian chef Alexis Gauthier’s restaurant in London.

The association wrote in a statement that it “encourages everyone to follow the example of the king and not eat fattened foie gras on and after Christmas”.

This dish, particularly popular at the Christmas table, can be imported and sold in the UK, but it is not made locally.
