ABU DHABI, 18th November, 2020 (WAM) — The World Media Congress, held under the Patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Presidential Court, managed to cement its position as the leading global platform for shaping the future of the media sector in the region and the world.
During its first session, which ended yesterday in the capital, Abu Dhabi, the World Media Congress presented creative and innovative ideas, presenting a formulation of the concept of new media supported by renewable tools and ideas capable of coping with the changes taking place to keep pace with the lifestyle around the world.
The international event presented to the visitors and participants new innovations in the media market and business models of technology companies that excel in the fields of digital distribution worldwide, and presented the latest research developments, the most important of which are specialized in all aspects of traditional and new media.
The Global Media Congress witnessed the formation of a number of specialized media companies as well as the closing of many deals between regional and international institutions working in the field of media industry under the Global Buyers Program which brought together more than 170 buyers from all over the world and offered a exceptional platform that brought together the most prominent buyers and suppliers from around the world to review the best technologies, services and knowledge in the media sector.
The international event provided exceptional opportunities for various media institutions to build partnerships and enhance collaboration in ways that contribute to the development of civilized and humane media mechanisms aimed at serving humanity, ensuring their happiness, and societies through discreet and reliable content with develop high credibility.
His Excellency Mohammed Jalal Al Raisi, Director General of Emirates News Agency, WAM, and Chairman of the Supreme Organizing Committee of the World Media Congress, said that the support and encouragement from the wise leadership is a great impetus for the success of the World Media Congress in its first Session and a strong start that has helped cement the UAE’s position as a global hub for exploring the future of the media industry and formulating more sophisticated and creative media concepts that keep up with the rapid changes taking place in the sector as Result of the enormous technological and technical evolution that can be used to develop the sector and introduce new innovative tools based on artificial intelligence techniques and advanced technology to deliver the media message to communities and peoples around the world.
Al Raisi added that the World Media Congress, with its great momentum and broad international participation, unveiled a new model that reflects the UAE’s capabilities and capabilities in leading global efforts to adopt a sustainable global media model based on partnerships and innovative tools based and empowered by technology to deliver reliable, sober, and more influential media content that advances the paths of sustainable development in diverse fields worldwide.
World Media Congress activities comprised 6 main initiatives, namely: “The Live Performance Platform, Global Young Media Professional Empowerment Program, Media Future Lab, Innovation Platform, Global Buyer Program and a Special Session on the Role of Media in Establishing a Culture of Tolerance in human societies.”
The Media Labs platform, founded on the basis of “Chatham House”, presented an innovative concept on the future of the media industry, involving a group of high-level executives, policy makers and entrepreneurs from the media industry around the world through exchange of views, discussion and development of ideas, helping to shape a global perspective on the future of the media sector.
Young people featured prominently in discussions at the World Media Congress, where the Arab Youth Center released a new research study titled ‘New Media’ which found that 53% of Arab youth use digital media compared with 47% in traditional media, and that 41% of them spend 4:5 hours a day on social media, while 57% of them are still TV, 17% radio, 14% newspapers as traditional media and films top the quality of Content that Arab youth watch on broadcasting platforms, with a 30% rate.
The research study showed that there are four main incentives for media consumption among Arab youth, namely: “calmness and a sense of security.” for social closeness and 25% for exclusivity and distinction.
Over the course of three days, the first edition of the World Media Congress attracted more than 13,656 visitors, with the participation of more than 192 international media companies and institutions from 42 countries around the world, as well as the participation of more than 1,200 pioneers, experts and specialists of the media industry.
More than 1,600 media professionals from 6 continents spread over 141 countries from Asia, Africa, Europe, North America, South America and Australia participated in the coverage of the activities of the Global Media Congress. More than 1,200 media pioneers, specialists and global influencers attended the international event and it included more than 30 dialogue sessions and a group of workshops attended by more than 162 prominent international speakers.
The Global Media Congress exhibition attracted more than 192 prominent media institutions and companies from around the world, representing 42 countries around the world and showcasing the latest global technologies specializing in these important sectors.
It is worth noting that in its first edition, the World Media Congress focused on a number of main axes, themes and issues, including digital communications, the impact of artificial intelligence on contemporary media, the integration of advanced technologies and innovations in the media sector, in addition to a series of dialogues witnessing the launch of new innovations, interactive workshops and roundtables in the fields of journalism, radio, television, internet, social communication and global influencers.
