PARIS – Serbian star Novak Djokovic and promising Dane Holger Ronne exchanged praise after the 1,000-point final of the Paris Berassi Tennis Masters on Sunday and the 19-year-old crowned the first title of his career at the Masters tournaments.

Djokovic, in statements following the meeting that Ron decided two sets to one after losing the first set 3-6, 6-3, 7-5 after two hours and 33 minutes, said that Ron was an integrated player, like the promising Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, number one in the world, plays a big card on the field.

In this regard, he said: “Ronne and Alcaraz are complementary players and they play with great energy and vitality on the pitch.”
He continued: “They are also similar in physical strength and they train with great power and they defend very well too, one (I mean Ron) is better at counterattacks and the other (Alcaraz) excels at front kicks .”

Despite losing the title, the 35-year-old was satisfied with the level he has shown so far this season.
On the other hand, Ronh confirmed in his statements that the Serbian star is considered an “ideal” for him and that he saw him “on TV” when he was young.

In his statements after winning the first title in this category of his career, he said: “You are one of my favorite players, I used to see you on TV when I was young.”

The 19-year-old also reached out to his assistants and his mother, Aniki, who never left him from the start.
Djokovic joined the youngster’s list of tournament casualties after knocking out five of the top 10 in the rankings on his way to the title, starting with Poland’s Hubert Hurkacz (10th), then Russia’s Andrei Rublev (9th) and after him the world number one (Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz), in the semifinals the Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime (eighth) and finally Djokovic (seventh).

Ronne continued his successful season with the third title after the championships in Stockholm and Munich.
The Dane’s achievements didn’t stop there, but he even secured 10th place in the world rankings after being 18th. (Effie)
