Chinese President today begins visit to Saudi Arabia and attends 3 summits

Chinese President Xi Jinping is beginning a three-day visit to Saudi Arabia today, his first to Saudi Arabia since 2016, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported yesterday.

SPA added that during this visit, a Saudi-China summit will be held, chaired by the Guardian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and the President of China, with the participation of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

The visit program includes the presence of the Chinese President at the “Riyadh-Gulf-China Summit for Cooperation and Development” and the “Riyadh-China-Arab Summit for Cooperation and Development” with the participation of leaders of the Gulf and the United Arab Emirates Countries.

And the Saudi Press Agency said the visit “comes at the kind invitation of the guardian of the two holy mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and to strengthen the historic ties and respected strategic partnership that brings Saudi Arabia and China together. ”

During the two summits with Arab leaders, “possibilities for strengthening common ties in all areas and prospects for economic and development cooperation” will be discussed, “on the basis of the excellent relations between the countries of the Cooperation Council for the Arab Gulf States and the Arab countries” with China, the agency said.

China has occupied the position of the kingdom’s first trading partner in the past five years as it has been the first destination for the kingdom’s exports and foreign imports since 2018 as the volume of intra-trade reached 309 billion riyals in 2021.
