Biden is eighty… and he’s marrying his granddaughter
The White House in the US celebrated two family celebrations this week.
Yesterday, Sunday, US President Joe Biden and his wife celebrated their 80th birthday without much ceremony, although it is the first time in the country’s history that an American president has reached his 80th year in office.
Jill Biden, the president’s wife, posted an emotional message on Twitter Sunday afternoon, which she pinned to two pictures of them dancing together. “I don’t want to dance with anyone else. Happy birthday Joe! I love you,” Jill Biden said in her tweet.
For the second time, he celebrated the wedding of US President Joe Biden’s granddaughter “Naomi” at the White House earlier this week, marking the 19th wedding ceremony in history to be held at the US President’s residence.
The ceremony took place on the South Lawn of the White House in cold weather, and journalists were not allowed in, while the number of guests was about 250 people.
“It has been wonderful to see Naomi grow, discover herself and carve such an amazing life for herself,” the President and First Lady said in a joint statement released after the ceremony.
They added: “Now we are very proud to see that she has chosen Peter to be her husband and we are honored to welcome him into our family. We wish them days of laughter and a love that grows deeper with each passing year.”
Following the ceremony, a family and wedding party luncheon was held at the White House.
