An opportunity that will not be repeated.. to sell a Spanish village at an unbelievable price

Those who dream of living in the countryside might see the announcement of a real estate company in Spain as a unique opportunity that will make it possible to own an entire village for $259,000.

The village of Salto de Castro is located in northwestern Spain, on the border with Portugal, in the province of Zamora and 3 hours drive from the capital, Madrid.

According to the BBC, the village includes 44 houses, a hotel, a church, a school, a swimming pool and a group of barracks that housed the Spanish Civil Guard.

No one has lived in the village for sale for more than 3 decades.

The owner of the village bought it at the beginning of the first decade of this century with the aim of turning it into a tourist area, but the economic crisis in the eurozone prevented his project from succeeding.

“His dream was to build a hotel here, but the project is frozen and he still hopes to make it happen,” said Royal Invest’s Ronnie Rodrives, who represents the owner.

“I decided to sell because I live in the city and can’t live in the village,” the owner, who is in his 80s, tells real estate website Idelista.

The show has attracted the attention of 50,000 visitors since the village went up for sale at this price last week, and 300 people expressed their desire to buy.

It is worth noting that the village was built since the early fifties by the Iberduero electricity company to house the families of the workers who built the water reservoir in the Salto de Castro area, but the residents left after the construction was completed, and it was abandoned entirely in the late 1980s.

The area around the village is referred to as “Empty Spain”, a sparsely populated rural area that lacks many of the services found in big cities.

The village was previously put up for sale for 6.5 million euros, but the lack of interest from buyers and damage to some buildings caused the price to drop almost to the price of buying a one-bedroom apartment in the prestigious areas from Madrid corresponds or Barcelona.
