A new attack on the nuclear «Zaporizhia» .. Russia and Ukraine exchange accusations

Yesterday, the United Nations International Atomic Energy Agency condemned a new attack on Ukraine’s Zaporizhia nuclear power plant, which is under Russian control, and called on those responsible for the explosions there to stop it immediately, while Russia and Ukraine exchanged accusations about starting the bombardment.

The Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Rafael Grossi, said that strong explosions had occurred in the area of the Zaporizhia plant and that this was completely unacceptable.

For its part, the Russian army accused Kyiv of bombing Ukraine’s Zaporizhya nuclear power plant, saying that “Kyiv does not stop its provocations aimed at increasing the risk of a man-made disaster at the Zaporizhya nuclear power plant.” He pointed out that despite the bombing, radiation levels at the station were still normal.

On the other hand, Ukrainian nuclear power company Energo Atom said that the Russian army bombed the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant yesterday morning and that the station’s infrastructure facilities had been subjected to at least 12 bombings.

The company confirmed via the Telegram application that the list of damaged equipment indicates that the attackers “targeted the infrastructure needed to restart the fifth and sixth power plant units and resume power production to meet Ukrainian needs attacked and disturbed”.

In addition, the head of Ukraine’s Presidential Office, Andriy Yermak, expressed his belief that Ukraine is unlikely to be able to end the war started by Russia by next spring.

And Ukraine’s Ukrinform news agency reported yesterday that Yermak, in a speech he gave at the International Security Forum Halifax, said that “Ukraine made gains on the battlefield, liberated Kherson and advanced towards Kharkiv, but This one War goes on and I’m not ready to define the exact day and time of our victory. But it will definitely happen,” he commented on Deputy Defense Minister Volodymyr Havrilov’s statement that “Ukrainian forces can return to Crimea by the end of December, and the war with Russia will end in the spring.” And the Ukrainian General Staff announced that the Ukrainian army killed about 60 Russian soldiers in a long-range artillery shelling aimed at a town 40 kilometers south of Kherson.
