3 goals away from Liverpool’s all-time top scorer.. Klopp: Salah’s stat is ‘insane’ | Soccer

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said Mohamed Salah’s stats were “insane” after the Egyptian striker scored twice in Sunday’s 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur in the English Premier League.

After back-to-back league defeats, Salah gave Liverpool a two-goal lead before the end of the first half and the Reds overcame the heavy pressure in the second half after Harry Kane reduced the difference for the home side.

Salah is 3 goals away from overtaking the legendary Kenny Dalglish in Liverpool’s all-time top scorers list and Klopp said the Egypt captain won’t stop there.

Klopp said: “Maybe Kenny Dalglish and Robbie Fowler have had periods when none of them have scored. Salah won’t stop, he’s in Liverpool’s top eight goalscorer and he won’t stop.”

“If you look at Salah’s stats, goals and help, it’s crazy,” he added.

Salah has only scored 6 Premier League goals this season but he is looking forward to returning to his best, which is positive for the Liverpool team as they try to make amends for a disastrous start to the season.

Salah has scored or scored 19 goals in 20 games in all competitions this season, a number he has surpassed just once in the 6 seasons he has spent with the club at this point.

“Despite the slow start, he was instrumental in creating most of the chances in Europe but we didn’t take them or didn’t take them,” said Klopp.

“It can happen to a striker, it’s a normal phase… In the end, if you look at his career after 4, 5 or 6 years, everyone will remember one of the best strikers I’ve ever seen.”

The Germany coach continued: “What made me most happy tonight was that he scored the two goals and then played together with the team.”

After back-to-back defeats to Nottingham Forest and Leeds United, Klopp celebrated wildly at the end of the game and conceded the win over Tottenham could be a pivotal moment for his side, who climbed to eighth place.

“Yes, I was a bit concerned, but it was a really big match,” said Klopp.
